Can i hold my landlord accountable for damages to personals?

I reported a leak in my kitchen to my landlord, later that day he came and took a look at the apt. He cut the bathroom which had no effect on da kitchens leaking. It was about a week before the landlord had someone to return to finish the job and fix the leak. And then it was only because I called him. This is the way all problems relevant to this apt are taken care of. In that week the water continued leaking and came thru the wall in my closet and caused mold damages to my clothing. can I hold the landlord responsible for the damage to these items?
