In which countries do ppl "believe" that Santa Claus comes down the chimney on Dec 24 to give gifts?

Being an American, I know that Dec 24 is the traditional day/night that Santa comes to the homes of good children. However, I have heard than in western Europe, St. Nick visits kids on St. Nicholas Day, not Christmas eve. Are there any other countries besides the US where Santa visits kids on Christmas eve?
