How can people become more tolerant of other sects and Religions?

Unfortunately people will never be tolerant of everyone. Someone somewhere will always think that they are better and deserve more then this person. For me, I try to see the good in everyone and be respectful of their life choices. LOVE is the key, and it hurts me that in 2010 people are still fighting for rights as simple as to be married because of intolerance.
